Lesson 12 – Factors of a number

- Understand where factoring can be helpful
Why?
Factoring is helpful in grouping things without leaving out anything.
Lesson :
We begin by finding how numbers can be formed by multiplying other numbers. Then we pictorially represent what these multiplications mean. Introduce the terms factors and practice factoring with lots of kids participating.
Towards the end, students play a factor and multiples games, which is fun, meaningful as well as serves to spark conversations among kids regarding factors and multiples.
