The Love for Math Contest

“The mathematician’s patterns, like the painter’s or the poet’s must be beautiful; the ideas like the colours or the words, must fit together in a harmonious way. Beauty is the first test: there is no permanent place in the world for ugly mathematics.”

So, that’s the spirit of the day: to experience and engage with the beauty of Mathematical ideas. We believe that math is play and exploration, which gives rise to observations, questions, solutions, investigations and discoveries.

Details & Format:

1. The problems become available for participants to view (by clicking on the button below) at 11:00 am (IST) on September 15, 2019. The password will be shared with you via email.
2. You can share your responses by 7:00 pm (IST) on September 15, 2019.
3. Sending your responses: “Mathematics is the art of explanation“. Keeping this in mind, the responses can be shared in any of following ways.
   1. All answers, ideas and explanations are entered in the response boxes on the contest page. Any supporting pictures/drawings(if needed) can be shared via email.
   2. All responses are shared via email. This can be typed or handwritten (shared as an image or pdf).
4. Try to share your responses in a way which is easy to read and understand.
   All emails should be sent to luvformath@gmail.com with subject “15th September Contest Response”.
5. Please don’t close refresh the page before submitting. The responses which you have filled in won’t be autosaved.
6. Results will be declared on the site by September 29, 2019. Winning entries and interesting ideas will be published on the site.
