Challenge 1: I'm thinking of a number

I am thinking of a number. If I add 3 to the number and multiply it by 5, I get a new number.

I can also get the same new number by adding 47 to my original number.

What number am I thinking of? Also, explain how you found it.

I used guess and check Strategy starting with it went like this 10+3=13 13×5=65 10+47=57 it was close then i tried with 9 it went like this 9+3=12 12×5=60 47+9=56 it was also closer than last time so I knew i was getting closer then i tried 8 8+3=11 11×5=55 8+47=55 so that is how I got my answer
